On Friday, 25th July 2025, African Rural University (ARU) joined librarians from various universities at the 14th Consortium of Uganda University Libraries (CUUL) Head Librarians Round Table Meeting held at Aga Khan University, Uganda. The Acting University Librarian, Ms. Patience Tumukunde, represented ARU.
During the event, Ms. Patience actively participated in knowledge-sharing sessions, including contributions through featured video presentations.
The meeting aimed to
- Provide updates on ongoing CUUL activities, including the CUUL-RENU Cybersecurity Training and the integration of Artificial Intelligence in academic settings.
- Share insights from the CUUL Chairman focusing on research, innovation, and training.
As part of the engagement, participating librarians toured the Aga Khan University Library to benchmark its 21st-century design and technological capabilities.

A key announcement during the event was the upcoming 4th Annual Research Conference, to be held under the theme “Empowering Africa Through Open Knowledge: Bridging Present Realities and Future Innovations” Scheduled for 16th–17th October 2025 at Imperial Royale Hotel, Kampala.
The meeting was presided over by Dr. Joseph Mwizera, Associate Vice Provost of Aga Khan University, Uganda.
